It’s time to start learning English again!
On 20th March, the UK marked one year since the first coronavirus lockdown by holding a national minute’s silence at midday. Over a year has passed since the whole world was shaken by the scale and ferocity of COVID-19 pandemic.
Now, the sun is shining outside and the cherry blossoms are flowering. More than 33 million people in the UK have received their first dose of coronavirus vaccine, wearing masks and sanitising hands has become the new normal. It’s time to start learning English again!
We asked our students if they were happy to be back in the classrooms. This is what they said:
“I am happy to be able to go back to school. Because when one is starting to learn a new language, I think it is very important to be face-to-face. The lessons are for less than 6 people and they are taking the appropriate measures, so that we are all safe.” (Jareni from Mexico)
“I feel safe being back at school and I am happy to be back in the classroom again because it’s easier for the teacher to correct my speaking mistakes” (Manuelly from Brazil)
“I worry at home during lockdown. I like to be in the classroom again because I can talk and be with other people. I feel safe to be back at school because the class is small and windows are always open.”(Ana from Spain)
“During lockdown it was difficult to mobilise to learn. I want to come back to school as soon as possible so I not forget what I learned so far. It is good to learn now, because there are few people and teachers can give more time to me. Everyone is sitting far and is plenty fresh air.” (Jaroslaw from Poland)
